Regulation (EU) 524/2013 provides the framework for online dispute resolution, the creation of the EU ODR platform and the date (9/1/2016) in which each e-shop in the European Union must provide a link of the platform to its website that would give to the European consumers the access to electronically submit their complaints to an ADR entity. This Regulation shall apply to the out-of-court resolution of disputes concerning contractual obligations stemming from online sales or service contracts between a consumer resident in the Union and a trader established in the Union through the intervention of an ADR entity listed in accordance with Article 20(2) of Directive 2013/11/EU and which involves the use of the ODR platform. This is a quick heads up regarding a new piece of information that should be added to online e-commerce sites/applications: a link to an online dispute resolution platform run by the European Commission.
